Dry Needling

What Is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a skilled technique that involves inserting a very thin, sterile needle directly into areas of muscle tightness or “knots.” These are known as trigger points, and they often contribute to pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion. The needle causes a small twitch response in the muscle, helping to release tension and promote healing in the surrounding tissue.
Note: Dry needling is not the same as acupuncture. While both use similar tools, dry needling is based on Western medicine and physical therapy principles focused on musculoskeletal function.

What to Expect During A Session
During your Dry Needling Session:

Your therapist will assess the area and identify specific trigger points.

Thin needles will be inserted into the targeted muscles.

You may feel a twitch or slight cramp—that’s a good sign the muscle is responding.

Sessions are typically 30–45 minutes and may be combined with other therapies like manual therapy or exercise.
